The Challenge

The 10 UPPER Living Labs (Valencia, Rome, Versailles Grand Parc – Île de France, Oslo, Mannheim, Lisbon, Leuven, Budapest, Thessaloniki and Hannover region) are implementing almost 80 measures on the ground to push people out of private cars and instead pull them closer to public transport.

Now the time has come for UPPER Living Labs to share their experience with implementing innovation in public transport with the wider European mobility community!

Who can apply?

Both cities and city-owned or co-owned public transport operators can apply. Please note that to participate in the programme, your city must have a designated department in charge of mobility and an operating regular stop-based public transport system in place.

Background

UPPER – Unleashing the Potential of Public Transport in Europe – is a Horizon Europe project running from January 2023 to December 2026 aiming to strengthen the role of public transport as a cornerstone of sustainable mobility and innovation in cities.

10 Take-up cities will be selected through an open call to join the Replication programme. Each take-up city will choose up to three specific topics of interest they want to follow within the programme. The UPPER Living Labs will share their experience and lessons learned on these topics and support the take-up cities in creating their replication roadmaps. At the end of the programme, the take-up cities will be invited to join the next UPPER General Assembly in Mannheim and participate in a series of knowledge-sharing activities there.
