The Challenge
Cities are increasingly investing in zero-emission public transport to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve air quality and provide cleaner, more efficient mobility services. However, transitioning to electric public transport requires more than simply replacing vehicles—it also demands reliable charging infrastructure, system integration and operational readiness.
The City of Buftea is seeking to modernise its public transport network through the procurement of 10 new electric buses and three rapid charging stations. The project aims to increase the attractiveness and efficiency of public transport, reduce traffic-related pollution and encourage a shift away from private car use. The selected supplier will deliver an integrated solution, including the supply of vehicles, charging infrastructure, installation, commissioning, testing, staff training and warranty services.

Background
The City of Buftea has launched this procurement as part of its Urban Mobility project, funded through the Bucharest–Ilfov Regional Programme 2021–2027 and co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
The contract covers the supply of 10 electric buses, three rapid charging stations, and all equipment and services required for deployment, including installation, integration, testing, commissioning, staff training, vehicle registration support and warranty provision.
