Stockholm: Innovative street charging
Background
Please note that the source information about the competition is provided in Swedish.
Background
The city of Stockholm, like all cities, is facing a major transformation to achieve decided climate goals. Electrification of the vehicle fleet is an important part of that work. Therefore, the city needs to accelerate the development of the public charging infrastructure. Being able to charge vehicles in the city where there are limitations in space and capacity will be easier if the state, city, academy and business community work together to achieve the goal of emission-free traffic. The goal is for all traffic to be there by 2030 and for Stockholm to become a model for other cities.
The Challenge
The City of Stockholm, Vinnova and Kista Science City are arranging Sweden's first innovation competition with the aim of finding new solutions for public charging infrastructure on streets. Solutions that can reduce investment costs, short installation times and reduce the price and size of the charging posts.
The competition entry must find a solution to these challenges:
- expensive network connections with long lead times
- high excavation costs
- bad space in the public space
- lack of capacity in the electricity grid
- expensive and clumsy charging posts.

The competition is open to anyone with a good and innovative idea, but is primarily aimed at companies and organizations.
