The Challenge

The challenge is to promote sustainable transport and address environmental and societal impacts through innovative projects. These projects should enhance multimodality in transport systems, improve environmental performance, and contribute positively to societal impacts.

The expected solutions should be innovative, addressing international state-of-the-art standards. Projects should demonstrate sufficient technological maturity and have a clear market potential. They should contribute to climate change mitigation, adaptation to environmental risks, pollution reduction, sustainable resource use, circular economy, and biodiversity protection.

Who can apply?

Eligible applicants are companies registered in France that are up-to-date with their fiscal and social obligations. Projects can be submitted by a single entity or a consortium, with the lead applicant being a private company or a startup. The projects must be aimed at scaling an innovation from the prototype stage and should involve multiple actors in promoting multimodality.

Up to five projects could be selected and the winners will benefit from a comprehensive support package that includes:

  • Support by high-level experts and gain access to the AIT ecosystem
  • Increased visibility through the actions of the AIT and the Ministry of Transport
  • Assistance with regulatory issues and legal support, especially regarding public procurement
  • Networking opportunities
  • Support in finding locations for testing of prototypes
  • Aid in securing public and private funding

Background

The "Propulse" programme was initiated by the Agency for Innovation in Transport (AIT) to support and accelerate innovation in the transport sector. It aims to address pressing environmental and societal challenges by promoting sustainable and innovative transport solutions. The programme fosters projects that enhance multimodality and intermodality, improve environmental performance, and contribute to positive societal impacts. By leveraging technological advancements and fostering collaboration among various stakeholders, "Propulse" seeks to create a more efficient, sustainable, and user-friendly transport system. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to mitigate climate change, reduce pollution, and promote the circular economy and biodiversity protection.
