Background

Published on 17 June.  The first Mobility Solutions Showroom organized by EIT Urban Mobility was held in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, on 2 June 2022. The event gathered numerous thought leaders and high-profile attendees from cities, regional governments, startups, corporates, and consultancies.

Solution providers that are part of the EIT Urban Mobility community presented their innovative solutions to the audience in Amsterdam:

  • Dashfactory, a cycling safety startup, introduced their two solutions listed on the Mobility Innovation Marketplace: Dashbike, a hardware camera for cyclists to collect relevant data on city infrastructure, traffic and cycling incidents; and Dashtrack: A decision-support tool for cities on infrastructure planning. Sandro Beck, Dashfactory’s CEO, explained how Dashtrack uses the cycling data collected by cyclists to inform cities on how to make their city safer.
  • ModelMe3D, also accessible via the Marketplace platform, showcased their interactive urban space design platform. Their CEO Samuel Alvarado presented their software solution that allows the creation of 3D models for design and planning of urban infrastructure, and how it enables citizens to get involved and participate in the process.
  • CodeTheStreets, another EIT Urban Mobility-funded project, was presented by Iris Ruysch from the Future Mobility Network. Their solution supports municipalities in managing their urban traffic, and they explained how they have worked with cities to provide improved navigation services in order to stimulate drivers to choose social route options.
  • Finally, Stephan van Dijk, Director of Innovation at the AMS Institute, presented their solution SmartHubs. Their service aims to foster a modal shift to sustainable transportation, as well as using urban space more efficiently. They do so by driving the development and implementation of shared mobility hubs in urban areas.

To conclude the event, Professor Marco te Brömmesltroet hosted an inspiring keynote speech on the purpose of mobility and how we can change this as a community. He announced the publishing of his newest book "The Movement" with co-author Thalia Verkade, which explores this topic in detail.
