Background

This prior information notice announces the intention of the contracting authority to publish a future call for tenders.


The Sustainable Transport Unit of the Directorate for Energy, Transport and Climate is involved in research activities supporting the development, implementation and monitoring of the legislation concerning the type approval of vehicles at European level as well as at United Nation level.


In addition, Regulation (EU) 858/2018 has introduced a mandatory market surveillance to verify the compliance of vehicles with the relevant requirements concerning both exhaust emissions and safety.


The JRC is the Commission’s service that carries out the compliance verification according to the Article 9 of that Regulation. In order to reinforce the JRC capability to provide the requested support to the policy DGs in charge of the relevant legislation, the JRC needs assistance of specialists in specific fields related to vehicle safety.

This procedure aims at establishing a framework contract for technical and scientific consultancy services in the field of safety of advance and autonomous vehicles.
