Hyundai EV Camper open innovation challenge 2026
The Challenge
Hyundai is looking for innovative solutions for the first dedicated EV-Camper in the European market. The concept must move beyond the drivetrain to focus on the "WOW factor" and a superior User Experience.
The winner will receive a paid pilot project with Hyundai and will be potentially invited to European headquarter in Offenbach, Germany.
In the long-term there is potential for continuous collaboration if the pilot reaches relevant KPIs.
Who can apply?
The challenge is open to anyone.
The timeline of the applications is the following:
Applications can be submitted until March 17th, 2026.
The interview phase will be during the second half of March, followed by the announcement of the winner in early April.
Background
The challenge is looking for the following user experience improvements:
- Enhanced Comfort: Sleeping materials, ergonomics, and riding experience.
- Smart Features: Windows, shading, ambient light, noise reduction, and entertainment.
- Utility: Modular/innovative kitchen, bathroom, toilet, and cleaning solutions.
- Energy & Sustainability: Energy efficiency, power supply, and range extension.
Not in scope as already under development:
- Swivel seats in row one.
- Electric pop-up roof.
- Solar panel for auxiliary power supply.
- Integrated controller, e.g. for camper related functions.
- Seats: Flat folding seats in the second row and rear view mode.
- Smart glass: Use of PDLC smart glass for privacy.
