Germany-Berlin: Construction of a footpath bridge to connect areas of Europacity
Background
North of the main train station on Heidestrasse between Nordhafen and Humboldthafen, Europacity is being built as the largest inner-city development area in Berlin. It covers an area of 40 hectares with four planning areas of different characters and focal points.
To establish the connection between the areas of Europacity to the east of the railway line and the Fritz-Schloss-Park/Poststadion to the west and the Döberitz green corridor, a footpath bridge over the long-distance, regional and S-Bahn systems is to be planned. The bridge structure and the corresponding ramps are designed to be barrier-free and for limited use by bicycles.
