Amsterdam: AI solutions solving a challenge faced by a marginalised group
The Challenge
The Amsterdam municipality is dedicated to tackling social issues that are important to the city’s residents. However, the overview is not exhaustive.
The municipality of Amsterdam is looking for AI solutions to any challenge faced by marginalised communities, to be used by associations or directly by the target group. In the proposal It is essential to highlight the significance of the problem faced by the target community and the potential impact of the proposed AI solution. Applicants need to demonstrate collaboration with a social organisation familiar with the target group. Co-creation in the language of the target group is essential, and applicants should arrange these sessions with the organisation’s support on location in Amsterdam. This challenge scheme operates as a contest.
This Wildcard challenge offers a wide range of possibilities for various solution providers using AI, including companies that offer mobility services and products.
The city will host up to three pilots.
Who can apply?
- Companies and associations established in the EU, with a valid European business ID
- Individual citizens through their host institution, or from a country associated to Horizon Europe.

The third CommuniCity Open Call is now open!
This final round will provide up to €12,500 grants to tech providers reaching a total of around 100 grants. Applications must be submitted no later than 31 October 2024 at 17:00 CET.
Over 60 grants available for the winning Piloting Teams
This final CommuniCity Open Call seeks novel solutions for 54 city-specific challenges with a budget of almost €820,000. In other words, there are grants available for over 60 piloting teams. Similar to the previous open call rounds, also the third CommuniCity Open Call addresses social, economic, and urban challenges, with a particular emphasis on improving digital inclusion and sustainability for marginalised communities within European cities.
