Türkiye-Bursa: Traffic optimisation for cleaner cities.
Background
As the Bursa Metropolitan Municipality, our goal is to develop a sustainable city with its own unique dynamics through the implementation of smart city initiatives within our Smart City and Innovation Department.
Our "Practical, Sustainable, and Economical Traffic Integration - BURSA" project is designed to cater to individuals seeking practical and cost-effective commuting options. By addressing issues such as traffic congestion and payment confusion, it aims to save people time and money while reducing the uncertainty associated with personal vehicle usage. Our mission is to achieve "Less traffic, more clean air!"
Key points to consider:
Bursa Traffic Density Rankings:
- In 2020, Bursa ranked 454th in terms of traffic density.
- By 2022, Bursa had improved significantly, moving up to 113th place.
Average Time Lost in Bursa Traffic:
- On average, a passenger in Bursa loses 44 hours per year in traffic.
Air Pollution in the Marmara Region:
- Bursa leads the Marmara region in air pollution with 213 points.
- Traffic density is identified as the second most significant contributor to air pollution in Bursa.
Through the implementation of this project, we intend to alleviate traffic congestion by providing users with transportation cost and time options, effectively distributing traffic density and reducing it. This initiative not only promotes the Municipality's Sustainable Development Goals but also leads to:
- Enhanced public perception of the municipality
- Cultivation of an environmentally friendly corporate image
- Increase in brand value
- Potential advertising revenues
- Commission from contracted companies
- Reduction in transportation investments
