Background

As a municipal project developer, IBA Hamburg GmbH has been commissioned with the project development, development and marketing of Oberbillwerder in the Bergedorf district in addition to other project areas. With around 118 hectares, Oberbillwerder is not only Hamburg's second largest urban development project, it will also be Hamburg's 105th district. Oberbillwerder is to become a mixed-use urban district with around 6,500 residential units and up to 5,000 jobs. A special quality of the district is the extensive absence of stationary traffic in the public street space. A total of eleven so-called mobility hubs distributed throughout the district will accommodate stationary traffic in the district, thereby enabling additional space in the street space with high open space qualities and areas for additional mobility offers.

The Mobility Hubs concept pursues the goal of developing multifunctional and high-quality mobility and community centers that consciously promote multimodality, public life and community uses in the district. The main features of the mobility hub concept are defined in the master plan for Oberbillwerder.

In a single-phase, open realization competition with an idea part, the first two mobility hubs are to be developed structurally, with the contract promise including a mobility hub (MH7). Another mobility hub (MH6) in the central area of Oberbillwerder is being tendered as an idea in two variants.

The "Mobility Hubs Oberbillwerder" competition is part of the "Mobility Hubs for Sustainable District Development" project, which is funded by the federal funding program "National Urban Development Projects", which deals with the development of eleven mobility hubs for Oberbillwerder.
