Background

The management plan for the old town of the Hanseatic City of Stralsund represents the urban development strategy for the old town for the coming decades and defines the goals of the redevelopment. This also integrates the traffic concept for the old town, which is currently being updated. The overall MOBIHUB project fits into this framework with the construction of a mobility hub to accommodate resident parking, supplemented by new innovative transport services, service facilities and district-related communication and campaign offersThe strategy that has already been pursued of placing larger parking facilities exclusively on the outskirts of the old town is thus being pursued further.

The project area is within the scope of the "Stralsund Old Town" monument area, the "Old Town Island" redevelopment area, the design statute and the "Historic Old Towns of Stralsund and Wismar" UNESCO World Heritage Site protected area.

The project period for the entire project is almost 2 years. Sustainable urban development geared towards resilience, including the implementation of the mobility transition, requires the open, constructive involvement of citizens and the general public.

The contract provider should develop a design concept for selected public (street) spaces and neighbourhood courtyards in the old town and is to be provided from the beginning of the 1st quarter of 2024 to the end of 2024.
