Finland-Helsinki: Multi-modal journey planner solutions.

The focus of this Request for information is to gather information on multi-modal journey planner SaaS solutions on the market. Purpose of the service is to replace VR’s existing journey planner with a modern solution which enables multi-modal, modern and efficient door-to-door journey planning in VR’s various sales channels. Our goal is to increase train’s modal share from other transportation modes and with our multi-modal new journey planner solution we want to challenge the easiness of car use.

Target of the Service is to enable modern, door-to-door journey planning by VR’s customers with real time travel information, offer an efficient and fast tool for train offering distribution and enable a flexible method for deployment of different routing strategies. The solution should scale to accommodate various modes of travel: trains, busses, public transportation, taxis, shared mobility, parking, micro-mobility, car rentals, city bikes etc.

In the Request for information VR is first and foremost interested in journey planner solutions. VR is looking for a supplier who is able to provide a modern SaaS solution that can be integrated to VR’s current sales channels and customer user interfaces. This Request for information does not include any sales channel development to e.g. VR Matkalla app and vr.fi. The system must be able to handle at least 2M door-to-door routing requests per day and must scale up to 20M routing requests per day.

Decisions to launch a possible procurement process will be taken after the market research. The procurement process and the subject of the procurement may be different from what has been mentioned in this request for information.
