Tyre wear capture device
Capturing tyre wear PM on commercial vans to improve air quality in cities and meet upcoming regulation
Supported by: EIT Urban Mobility
Product Details
Tyre wear is the dirty secret of the mobility sector. It is the leading source of air PM pollution and the second-largest contributor to ocean microplastics, harmful to human health and marine life. EVs produce up to 30% more tyre wear from the added battery weight and torque.
The Tyre Collective is developing on-vehicle solutions to capture and monitor tyre wear using their patented electrostatic technology. The solution is closing the loop on this pollution and filling knowledge gaps for future policy. The first product is a retrofit device for commercial vans, capturing tyre wear to improve air quality and corporate sustainability reporting.
The vision is to build the catalytic converter for tyre wear and work with vehicle manufacturers and Tier1 suppliers to integrate this technology into new EVs. Together, let's save our air from tyre wear.
