World-wide: New cycling infrastructure.
Background
With the objective to accelerate the transformation of urban mobility, the Bloomberg Initiative for Cycling Infrastructure (BICI) launches its world-wide open grant program for cities to drive the developement of urban cycling infrastructure.
Despite plenty of benefits for bike users, cycling remains a challenge in many cities of today. The uptake of the most efficient and environmental friendliest travel mode is still inhibitted by major barriers such as the lack of safe and comfortable infrastructure. Many urban cycling networks remain incomplete and disconnected.
In partnership with the Global Designing Cities Initiative (GDCI), BICI offers:
- Grants of $400k USD to $1M USD to fund ambitious cycling infrastructure projects.
- Technical assistance from GDCI to refine project plans and connecting winning cities.
- Training city leaders on data collection, resident engagement and other industry best practices.
- A global network of peers to connect with.
First webinars are starting from 01 November.
