UK: Smart load control in ferry trailers.

How can EASY Road Transport make a conclusive system that proves what and how much is loaded in ferry trailers?

EASY Road Transport is a young transport company based in the Rotterdam area (The Netherlands) specialized in transport between UK and EU. We’re an ambitious young company with a team of young people who try to do things a little different. We focus on the UK because since the BREXIT this has become a niche where knowledge, service and quality can really make a difference. Our goal is to become the best UK specialized transport company in the Netherlands. Not the biggest or the cheapest but the best!

Why is this a challenge?

As forwarders we’re always in the blind. We receive an order for 20 pallets and we sent over a driver to collect them in the trailer. Our driver is often not allowed to be present during the loading so he can only check afterwards. Depending on the driver and on the load it’s not always checked properly so we sometimes end up with more or less load than on the original order.

Since we’re shipping to England (non-EU) this can become a problem if we have an additional pallet in the trailer with goods that are not on the documents. Therefor we’re looking for a smart solution to scan/check/control the inside of the trailer so we know that if we have to load 20 pallets according to the order there are also 20 pallets loaded in the trailer. This solution has to be smart, connected and cost-efficient because we have to install it in all our trailers (80).

Where do you fit in?

We are looking for possible solutions, this can be ‘ready to use’ solutions but we’re also open for innovative ideas to co-develop together. We have a background in innovations so we can create something together as well.

Challenger is open to innovative ideas, also for fundamentally new approaches.
