Spain-Barcelona: Reducing motorcycle-related accidents.
Background
The aim of the challenge is to reduce the number of accidents involving motorcycles, thereby increasing road safety in the city for both motorcyclists and other people who travel through the city, whether on foot or in other vehicles.
The challenge will have a budget allocation of €100,000 in grants, corresponding to a maximum of 80% of the total amount of the proposed solution. Solutions submitted shall aim to solve accident rates by means of both behavioural change as well as technological components.
The project shall be implemented during 18 months, of which 6 months are reserved for an initial pilot in a real environment where impact in relation to the safety of drivers, motorcyclists, and third parties in public space is measured. The deployment space of the solution, either citywide or in a specific type of space, shall be defined in the project.
The project should include different types of stakeholders, such as public authorities, society (entities that integrate various groups in the field of mobility, such as, road victims associations, etc.) and mobility companies. In addition, the project is also aimed at engaging insurance companies, educational centres, universities and driving school associations.
