Mobility Lab Foundation: Transforming Vitoria-Gasteiz and Araba through Innovation in Mobility and Logistics.
Background
As the Mobility Lab Foundation, our primary objective is to establish a hub of innovation in mobility and logistics that not only generates business opportunities but also becomes a benchmark for transformative policies in Vitoria-Gasteiz and Araba. We strive to organize, systematize, and coordinate a range of initiatives, experiences, and pilots that aim to enhance mobility and logistics while boosting the overall competitiveness of the economic fabric.
To achieve our goals, we have identified four key pillars that guide our activities:
- Living Lab: We create dedicated spaces for testing, measuring, and implementing innovative solutions in real-world environments. By actively promoting projects within the mobility and logistics sectors, we facilitate and encourage innovation in Vitoria-Gasteiz and Araba.
- Data Space: We recognize the importance of data in managing integrated mobility and logistics systems effectively. Therefore, we are developing a Data Space that enables the comprehensive management of relevant data, providing easily measurable indicators that support informed decision-making. This Data Space essentially functions as a Digital Twin, offering valuable insights into the city and its surrounding territory.
- Connect: Collaboration is at the heart of our work. We aim to foster co-creation by serving as a meeting place where various stakeholders can come together, including administrations, companies, research and training centers, and citizens. By facilitating dialogue, exchange, and alignment, we enhance cooperation and synergy among these entities. Furthermore, we actively seek partnerships and collaboration with national, European, and international agents, engaging in joint projects and networks. We also leverage European funds such as Horizon Europe, Next Generation EU, and RepowerEU to support our initiatives.
- Mobility Lab Campus: We recognize the crucial role of research and innovation in driving progress. To that end, we actively collaborate with the University of the Basque Country to boost research and innovation in the automotive and mobility sectors. Our flagship project, 'Green and Sustainable Territory,' addresses the specific innovation needs of the industry and aims to develop new products and services. Through close collaboration with eight esteemed research groups, we ensure that our efforts align with industry requirements. Additionally, we emphasize bridging the gap between university education and industry needs, facilitating student integration within companies and research centers.
We are proud to have already garnered the support and participation of several prominent actors in the mobility and logistics landscape, including Mercedes Benz, Michelin, Talgo, Tecnalia, Vicomtech, Basque CCAM, CIC Energigune, Basque Mobility and Logistics Cluster, Basque Country University (UPV-EHU), Basquevolt, Novadays, Ingartek, CTA, Estudios GIS, Geograma, Airestudio, Veltium and many more. Their involvement demonstrates the shared commitment to our vision and the collective effort required to create an innovative and sustainable mobility ecosystem in Vitoria-Gasteiz and Araba.
Overall, as the Mobility Lab Foundation, our comprehensive approach encompasses innovation, data-driven management, collaboration, and research. By leveraging these pillars, we aim to drive positive change, enhance competitiveness, and shape a future that prioritizes efficient mobility and logistics while benefiting the entire community.
