Switzerland-Aarau: Assessment of the condition of power lines via drones.

Evaluating photos taken by drones has proven to be a good way to determine the condition of overhead line components, as it does not require the lines to be taken out of service. As a result, Swissgrid wants to survey and assess its entire network, around 3,800 km of lines and 12,000 pylons. 

The purpose of this tender is to take high-resolution photos of Swissgrid's overhead lines and evaluate them according to a predefined fault catalogue. The drones will carry out digital mapping, map-making and aerial mapping services. The results will then enable Swissgrid to assess the condition of the lines internally and to derive the necessary measurements.
